BambooArk
BambooArk has been invited to participate in the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2019 (KLAF) as a main event of SHELTER to promote and showcase bamboo’s potential and versatility in the field of design and construction.
BambooArk will present ‘GO BAMBOO’, a talk introducing bamboo basics, its properties, cultivation, preservation, storing and promoting bamboo as a regenerative and sustainable material from an architect/designer's viewpoint.
BambooArk will also carry out the construction of a bamboo pavilion installation on site providing an opportunity for KLAF visitors and participants to observe the process and participate in aspects of the construction. This will be complemented by an exhibition on bamboo carpentry work, construction techniques and joinery by Balinese artisans utilizing traditional methods and also power tools.
BambooArk is headed by Low Ewe Jin, an architect who has practised in England, Malaysia and Australia over the past 30 years. For the last 4 years Ewe Jin has been based in Bali, Indonesia as Lead Architect at Ibuku (bamboo specialist designers) and as a regular Workshop Facilitator and Presenter at BambooU .
Apart from promoting bamboo via talks, workshops and festivals Ewe Jin has recently started to work on his own resort and hospitality projects - this time predominantly using bamboo together with other matching earth gentle materials.
